Building Healthy Habits

Building Healthy Habits

Posted by Chloe Murphy | 1st Sep 2022

It's officially the start of September! For many of you, this means back to routine after the summer holidays. However, this may be a daunting task, how can we get back into routine smoothly and without too much dread?

Building healthy habits is a good place to start. To do so, we need to make changes. Small or seemingly insignificant changes over time can add up and make a big difference at a later stage.

So why not make some small goals or changes this week in order to reset and try to improve your health and lifestyle?

Quantify Your Goals

When it comes to goal setting it is important to make your goals specific and achievable. Instead of making goals such as I want to lose weight or I want to live a healthier lifestyle, try to quantify your goals.

For instance, in order to achieve my goal, I will;

- Go for a 20-minute walk twice per week

- Drink an extra glass of water each day

- Cook 3 health dinners per week

- Get 7-8 hours of sleep 3 nights per week

Be Realistic

Be realistic and try not to be too ambitious. Over time you can extend your goals. After a few weeks, you may aim to increase the goals, for example;

- Go for a 30-minute walk 3 times per week

- Drink 2 extra glasses of water per day

- Cook 5 healthy dinners per week

- Opt for healthy snacks 3 days per week

- Get 7-8 hours of sleep 4 nights per week

Over time, these changes will become habits. Hopefully, the small changes will have a big impact in regards to your health goals.
