How to get started?
If Batch Cooking is new to you, here is the best way to get started.
In order to create a healthy balanced meal, you can follow the Healthy Plate guideline, which includes;
-1/4 protein source
-1/2 fruit & vegetables
So firstly, prepare some wholegrains, for example brown rice, brown pasta, and quinoa. Then cook some vegetables separately such as broccoli, carrots, peppers, and mushrooms. Followed by your protein sources, this may be poultry, beef, lentils, beans, and eggs.
For instance, you may prepare 2 varieties of wholegrains, 4 types of vegetables, and 2 protein sources.
Once you have the elements prepared, you can store them in the fridge or freeze some of the prepared components. You can then mix and match to create your healthy plate and a balanced meal.
Why not change it up each time by using different sauces!
